Dundee is a somewhat small town located in the state of Florida. With a population of 6,043 people and two associated neighborhoods, Dundee is the 279th largest community in Florida.Dundee is neither predominantly blue-collar nor white-collar, instead having a mixed workforce of both blue-collar and white-collar jobs. Overall, Dundee is a town of service providers, sales and office workers, and construction workers and builders. There are especially a lot of people living in Dundee who work in office and administrative support (14.26%), food service (10.84%), and sales jobs (9.84%). One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 7.66% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes. It is a fairly quiet town because there are relatively few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. (Children, for example, often can't help themselves from being noisy, and being parents ourselves, we know!) Dundee has relatively few families with children living at home, and is quieter because of it. Renters and college students, for their own reasons, can also be noisy. Dundee has few renters and college students. But the biggest reason it is quieter in Dundee than in most places in America, is that there are just simply fewer people living here. If you think trees make good neighbors, Dundee may be for you. One downside of living in Dundee, however, is that residents on average have to contend with a long commute, spending on average 35.83 minutes every day commuting to work. As is often the case in a small town, Dundee doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute. The population of Dundee has a very low overall level of education: only 9.30% of people over 25 hold a 4-year college degree or higher. The per capita income in Dundee in 2022 was $20,041, which is low income relative to Florida and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $80,164 for a family of four. However, Dundee contains both very wealthy and poor people as well. Dundee is an extremely ethnically-diverse town. The people who call Dundee home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. People of Hispanic or Latino origin are the most prevalent group in Dundee, accounting for 48.88% of the town’s residents (people of Hispanic or Latino origin can be of any race). The greatest number of Dundee residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American.
