Templeton is a somewhat small town located in the state of Massachusetts. With a population of 8,261 people and two associated neighborhoods, Templeton is the 205th largest community in Massachusetts. Much of the housing stock in Templeton was built prior to World War II, making it one of the older and more historic towns in the country.Unlike some towns where white-collar or blue-collar occupations dominate the local economy, Templeton is neither predominantly one nor the other. Instead, it has a mixed workforce of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, Templeton is a town of professionals, sales and office workers, and service providers. There are especially a lot of people living in Templeton who work in management occupations (11.90%), healthcare (10.41%), and office and administrative support (9.28%). Also of interest is that Templeton has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US. One interesting thing about the economy is that relatively large numbers of people worked from their home: 14.82% of the workforce. While this number may seem small overall, as a fraction of the total workforce this is high compared to the rest of the county. These workers are often telecommuters who work in knowledge-based, white-collar professions. For example, Silicon Valley has large numbers of people who telecommute. Other at-home workers may be self-employed people who operate small businesses out of their homes. The town is relatively quiet, having a combination of lower population density and few of those groups of people who have a tendency to be noisy. For example, Templeton has relatively fewer families with younger children, and/or college students. Combined, this makes Templeton a pretty quiet place to live overall. If you like quiet, you will probably enjoy it here. One downside of living in Templeton, however, is that residents on average have to contend with a long commute, spending on average 31.15 minutes every day commuting to work. As is often the case in a small town, Templeton doesn't have a public transportation system that people use for their commute. In terms of college education, Templeton is somewhat better educated than the 21.84% who have a 4-year degree or higher in the typical US community: 27.33% of adults 25 and older in the town have at least a bachelor's degree. The per capita income in Templeton in 2022 was $42,212, which is low income relative to Massachusetts, and upper middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $168,848 for a family of four. However, Templeton contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.
